John Tecumseh "Tauy" Jones,part Indian,was one of the founders of Ottawa University,built in 1869.

Tauy Jones Hall on the Ottawa University campus is named for him. He was one of two Indians who were on the Board of Trustees. Reverend I.S. Kallock,pastor of the First Baptist Church, was also on the board. Tauy Jones was born in Canada,1809,of the tribe of Chippewa. He died in 1873.
