The Olympian Literary Society was one of two Literary Society at Ottawa University. The Society was founded in 1882 and was focused on fostering excellence in Debate, Oratory and  general literary work. It had inter-collegiate debators and orators as members who according to the Ottawan of 1919 secured their training from this Society. The Society provided opportunities for debate and popular entertainment for students on Campus. The Society taught its members how to conduct public meetings in the parliamentary fashion of the day and provided students will social entertainment through its meetings which included songs, orations, poetry, debates and commentary. An annual banquet was held by the Society each year and competitions were held against the Philalathean Literary Society on the Campus which was founded in 1885.

The Society was organized as follows: It was chaired by three Ottawa University Trustees, who were President, Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer. The student society had a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Chaplain, Clerk, Chorister, Pianist and Sergeant at Arms.
