The mission of Fraternity & Sorority life (FSL) at Ottawa University is to inspire and develop positively engaged chapter members who fulfill a commitment to foster character, integrity, service, sound learning, and grace.

The vision of Fraternity & Sorority life (FSL) at Ottawa University is to be positively influential for the campus and community while demonstrating servant leadership, scholarship, and moral rectitude. The Fraternity & Sorority community will have multiple options for students to be involved.

By being a member of a fraternity or sorority at Ottawa University, students will:

  • Understand the importance of scholastic success and life-long learning.
  • Recognize and promote a culturally diverse community to provide social awareness of social injustice, and a deep commitment to civic engagement.
  • Cultivate life-long friendships based on common personal values, which then translate to the upkeep of the organization’s values.
  • Engage in healthy behaviors that reduce personal and organizational risk and liability.

Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) creates several opportunities for students to experience personal growth, progress as leaders, and develop lifelong friendships. Fraternity and Sorority life encourages diversity, creates community partnerships and propels our students into a life of significance. Our students involved in FSL are a part of various student organizations, as well as Brave athletics, and they take on service projects that benefit both the campus and Franklin County community. Our students also hold a large majority of the top leadership positions on campus.

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life serves as the advising team to sororities and fraternities. The office oversees and advises chapter events, serves as a liaison between faculty, alumni advisors, national offices and parents, develops leadership development programming, provides training in areas such as chapter operations, risk management, health and safety, membership recruitment, monitors the academic performance of fraternity and sorority members, and recognizes the positive achievements and contributions of community members.
